Oh man — July brought with it an absolute onslaught of great movies on our favorite streaming platforms. It feels like places like Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Max really stepped up their games and released a really fantastic, diverse array of films to choose from for the new month.
But it doesn’t stop on July 1. For the rest of July, you can expect some awesome new movie options. From newly produced films to old favorites, there will be plenty to choose from over the next 30 days — including this weekend, when we’ll get 14 new movies at our disposal.
So what are your best new options this weekend? In this article, I’ll list out a few highlights. Then at the end of the article, you can find a full list of every new film available between today and Sunday.
Bill & Ted Face the Music (Hulu)
I mean…you gotta kick off this list with Bill and Ted, right?! I loved the first two movies as a kid (even though I didn’t really understand what was going on), and I still love them today. And now I’m super stoked to get to watch the reboot of the series: Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Fear Street Part 1: 1994 (Netflix)
It’s always a bold move to label your movie as “Part 1.” This means that Netflix really believes they’ve got a hit horror trilogy on their hands that you’re really gonna like. And I gotta admit…this trailer has me interested. Let’s see if Fear Street Part 1: 1994 is all it’s cracked up to be!
The Tomorrow War (Amazon Prime)
Amazon Prime doesn’t release new films as often as, say, Netflix (which puts out about a dozen home-produced movies a month). But when Amazon does line up its own project? It’s usually jam-packed with Hollywood’s biggest stars. And this one’s got Chris Pratt running the show. I’m pretty excited for The Tomorrow War.
Let Him Go (HBO Max)
Weirdly enough, this isn’t the first time Kevin Costner and Diane Lane played husband and wife in a film — in fact, it happened just a few years ago with Man of Steel. It’s awesome to see these actors from another generation still finding great roles, and Let Him Go looks like a great addition to their filmography.
The Sandlot (Disney+)
Of course we have Disney+ in the home stretch armed with a classic. I absolutely loved The Sandlot as a kid. In fact, it might have been my most-watched movie for a long time. So obviously I’m going to recommend this one. Strangely, though, I’ve never seen The Sandlot 2…which is also available on Disney+ this weekend. Maybe I can fix that now?
