Jamie Lee Curtis is launching a podcast and it’s all about friendship.
Titled Good Friend, the two-time Golden Globe award-winning actress and New York Times best-selling children’s book author, will examine the highs and lows, joys and sorrows, of friendship in the unscripted weekly podcast.
“Jamie brings a fantastic energy, intellect and sense of humor to these conversations with such a remarkable lineup of guests,” said Will Pearson, Chief Operating Officer of the iHeartPodcast Network.
“They definitely make you think about the many incredible aspects of real friendship. It’s a beautiful podcast and we’re thrilled to call Jamie our friend and newest member of the iHeartPodcast family.”
Topics the podcast will cover include conflict resolution, the art of making new friends, and learning how to breath new life into ongoing friendships. According to Curtis, the timing is right to talk about relationships, friendships, and how they shape our lives.
“During this incredible time, friendships have been tested and while many have withstood this forced time apart and even became stronger, others have fallen away. I’m thrilled to launch Good Friend and share candid conversations that will dive into the truth behind friendships and relationships,” said Curtis in the announcement.
“Through this podcast, iHeartRadio has given me the opportunity, with humor, pathos, tears and spilled secrets, to explore dialogues with friends, new and old, and discover what it means to be a truly good friend, as well as how to let them go and how to keep them close,” she continued.
Curtis came up with the idea for the podcast while navigating through the complexity of friendships during the pandemic.
“I have seen tectonic changes in friendships during the pandemic,” Curtis told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. “I know I’m not alone in those feelings and I thought it would be an interesting conversation to start. Friendships, like everything, need to be ever-changing.”
She says the podcast will explore that need “as well as the profound mutuality when those relationships are clear.”
In the 15-episode first season, Curtis will host intimate conversations with her celebrity friends and public figures such as Senator Amy Klobuchar, Michelle Williams, Robin Wright, Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts, Lea Michele, Michelle Yeoh, Maria Shriver, and more.
Curtis’s husband, Christopher Guest, will make an appearance on the podcast along with his best friend David Nichtern.
On the premiere episode, Curtis has a sit down with producer/actress Lena Dunham. During the episode, Dunham spoke candidly about her struggles with alcoholism and the steps she took to reach sobriety.
“When I got sober, the drug aspect was gone, the pill aspect was gone,” Dunham explained to Curtis. “What wasn’t gone, was my addiction with and preoccupation with people and with my obsession with knowing I was okay with people. Okay in their eyes.”
